How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar makes a difference. We use financial donations to buy essentials for Caring Kits, cover running costs, and step up fast in emergencies like fires or floods.
We’re a registered Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status — so donations over $2 are tax deductible in Australia.

$25
$25 fills a toiletry kit for someone escaping domestic violence.

$50
$50 sets up a kitchen starter pack for a person moving from homelessness into safe housing.

$100
$100 supports our frontline client agencies with multiple caring kits during floods, fires or emergencies.

Any $
Any amount keeps our doors open and our shelves stocked for locals doing it tough.

Give Goods
Our op shop thrives on your quality donations, and every sale helps fund our Caring Kits and community programs.
We gratefully accept:
> Clean clothing (all sizes, good condition)
> Shoes & accessories
> Kitchenware, crockery, utensils
> Books, games & DVDs
> Craft supplies, haberdashery, fabrics
> Unique or collectible items

Unfortunately, we cannot accept:
> Broken, stained or damaged items
> Large furniture or whitegoods (fridges, washing machines, etc.)
> Mattresses or bedding with stains
> Dangerous goods (chemicals, weapons, etc.)
> Items that are wet, mouldy or soiled

We ask this because disposing of unsuitable donations costs us time and money — resources we’d rather put towards helping people in need. If you wouldn’t gift it to a friend, please don’t gift it to us.

Why Support Us?
Because when you back The Mend & Make Do Crew, you’re not just helping us - you’re directly helping your community and humans like you. Every dollar, donated item, or volunteer hour goes straight into helping people feel safe and cared for.
> Local Impact, Local People — All funds stay in the Clarence Valley and Northern Rivers.
> Fast Response in Crisis — From floods to fires, we get Caring Kits out quickly to frontline agencies.
> 100% Volunteer Powered — We’re community-run. No paid staff. No government funding. Just people helping people.
> Transparency & Trust — We’re a registered charity, a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), and have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status — so your donation is tax deductible and your support is in safe hands.
> More Than an Op Shop — We’re known as one of Australia’s most organised op shops and a local tourist gem — but everything we do is about helping those doing it toughest.
